School and Community Group Tours
Visitors to Government House learn about the important role the Governor plays in executing legal and constitutional duties, and community and ceremonial responsibilities. They also learn about the working house, gardens and grounds of the Estate and how they support the functions of the Governor.
Schools are warmly encouraged to arrange for their students to visit Government House. Year 6 and 7 students particularly enjoy visiting in conjunction with a tour of Queensland’s Parliament House. Our guides share their extensive knowledge about the role and functions of the Governor of Queensland and Government House with visiting students who also enjoy taking part in a mock investiture ceremony.
Many groups of which the Governor is Patron arrange to visit Government House, however the program is open to any interested community group. Our volunteer guides take visiting groups on a tour of the gardens and grounds and through parts of the House, sharing with them the fascinating history of the Estate and information about the role of Queensland’s Governor.
