Government House is one of Queensland's showcase public buildings, situated
in beautiful gardens in Brisbane. As home of the Governor, Government House plays an important role in the public
life of Queensland.
The next Government House Open Day
will be held on Australia Day
Monday, 26 January 2009.

and volunteers on hand to explain points of interest and to answer questions

School Visits
Government House welcomes
the visits of Year 7 students from Queensland schools. Vacancies are limited
and are generally arranged in conjunction with civics studies and tours
of Parliament House, Brisbane, which are sponsored by Queensland
Parliamentary Education Services.
Staff and volunteer guides from Government House provide a
1¾ hour visit program at Government House which includes tours
of the grounds and the public areas of the House.
The program also focuses on the role of the Governor, the ceremonial
and official activities hosted at Government House and the use of the
House both as a working environment and residence for the Governor.

Directions to Government House

Government House is located approximately
5 kilometres west of the Brisbane CBD.
Depending on direction of approach, the best routes are:
Coronation Drive; Latrobe Terrace; or the Western Freeway –
Route 5.
On arrival access is through one of two entry gates off Fernberg
Road, Paddington.
A continuous security presence is available to assist visitors
to the estate. |
