His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC has written to Her Excellency The Right Honourable Dame Patsy Reddy, Governor-General of New Zealand, following the Christchurch terror attack.
The Governor wrote on behalf of all Queenslanders, expressing the following sentiments:
On behalf of all Queenslanders I extend sincere and heartfelt condolences to the people of New Zealand following the tragic and shocking act of racially motivated terrorism last week.
Our State is joined with you in grief, sadness and disbelief that such a heinous act has befallen your great Nation and the beautiful people of Christchurch.
While we join others in the condemnation of this terror attack, you should know that because of the long and enduring friendship between our peoples, Queenslanders readily recognise and warmly acknowledge your National resilience and determination and we understand that this vile act will not negatively define your future.
Please be assured that Queensland will continue to provide our unwavering support and stand with you in this most difficult time.
