Governor's Program

The Governor’s Official Program is comprised of a wide range of constitutional and legal duties and ceremonial and community engagements. Each year, the Governor hosts thousands of visitors to Government House to take part in investiture and award ceremonies, Open Days, receptions and meetings, and travels widely throughout Queensland to support the activities of Patron groups. On Sunday, in the morning, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC and Mrs Kaye de Jersey departed Brisbane for an official visit to Cairns.

In the afternoon, at the Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal, Cairns, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey attended the Queensland Music Festival Cape York Instrumental Program performance as part of the 2017 Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF).

Following, at the Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal, Cairns, the Governor, with Mrs de Jersey, officially closed the 2017 CIAF, addressed guests and presented the CIAF Art Awards People’s Choice Award.

In the evening, at Barlow Park, Cairns, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey attended the National Rugby League Telstra Premiership Round 19 match between the South Sydney Rabbitohs and the North Queensland Cowboys.
