The Governor’s Official Program is comprised of a wide range of constitutional and legal duties and ceremonial and community engagements. Each year, the Governor hosts thousands of visitors to Government House to take part in investiture and award ceremonies, Open Days, receptions and meetings, and travels widely throughout Queensland to support the activities of Patron groups. On Thursday, in the morning, at Government House, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC greeted students from the Kelvin Grove State College tennis team visiting to train on the grass tennis court.
Following, at Government House, the Governor greeted staff and students of St Monica’s Catholic Primary School, Oakey, visiting for morning tea and a guided tour of the House and gardens.
In the afternoon, Councillor Greg Williamson, Mayor, Mackay Regional Council & Mrs Annette Williamson; Councillor Sonia Bennetto, Deputy Mayor, Charters Towers Regional Council & Mr Matt Bennetto; Councillor Jan Clifford, Councillor Division 1, Whitsunday Regional Council; Ms Annabel Dolphin, Board Director, North Queensland Bulk Ports & Mr Ben Dolphin; Mr Craig Doyle, Chief Executive Officer, Mackay Regional Council & Mrs Melissa Doyle; Mr Rob Porter, General Manager, Mackay Airport & Mrs Cheryl Porter; Mr Brendan Webb, General Manager, North Queensland Bulk Ports & Councillor Amanda Camm, Deputy Mayor, Mackay Regional Council, arrived at Government House as overnight guests of the Governor and Mrs Kaye de Jersey.
In the evening, at Government House, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey hosted a dinner in honour of North Queensland, at which the overnight guests attended, along with Ms Louise Ahern & Mr Justin Oliver; Air Commodore Mark Gower OAM & Mrs Julie Gower; and Flight Lieutenant Rob Moran ADC(Hon).
