Deanne Bell, representing Townsville Mayor, Cr. Les Tyrell OAM, the Governor delivered an address and unveiled a plaque, formally opening the MS Office for North and Far North Queensland.

The Governor and Mr McCosker departed Brisbane for an Official Visit to the Gladstone Region, welcomed by Mayor, Gladstone Regional Council (GRC), Councillor Gail Sellers.

In the evening, Her Excellency and Mr McCosker attended the opening of the 50th annual Gladstone Harbour Festival and 50th anniversary celebrations, at  the Gladstone Harbour Marina, welcomed by GRC Mayor, Councillor Gail Sellers, President, Gladstone Festivals and Events (GFE), Mr Tony Tully and GFE General Manager, Ms Michelle Stafford, where, in the presence of Member for Gladstone, Ms Liz Cunningham MP, Deputy Mayor, GRC, Cr Matt Burnett, GRC Councillors, Gladstone Harbour Festival Life Members, Gladstone community members and visitors to the Festival, the Governor delivered an address, formally  opening the 2012 Festival and launching the Golden Anniversary celebrations, then joined the Member for Gladstone, the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, GRC Councillors and staff, GFE President, Festival sponsors, local business supporters and invited  guests at a community reception.

On Monday 2nd April, Her Excellency Ms Penelope Wensley AC and Mr Stuart McCosker, accompanied by the Mayor,  Gladstone Regional Council (GRC), Cr. Gail Sellers, attended a Breakfast Briefing on Gladstone and the GRC region, at the Port Curtis Room, Gladstone Entertainment Centre, with the Deputy Mayor, Cr Matt Burnett, GRC Councillors and staff. Following, the Governor  and Mr McCosker, visited Kullaroo House, Headquarters, Gladstone Ports Corporation (GPC), welcomed  by GPC Chairman, Mr Ian Brusasco AM and CEO, Mr Leo Zussino, where they met GPC Directors, Mr Peter Corones AM, Ms Judy Reynolds and Ms Gail Davidson and GPC staff, then undertook a familiarisation tour of the Harbour, with the GPC Chairman, Directors, CEO, GPC and GRC staff and were briefed on GPC operations, Curtis Island and Gladstone Harbour developments.

In the afternoon, the Governor and Mr McCosker attended a luncheon at Scotties Restaurant, Goondoon Street, Gladstone City, hosted by GPC Chairman, Mr Ian Brusasco AM, with GPC  Directors and members of the Gladstone business community, including Manager, GLNG, Mr Garry Scanland, Manager, Gladstone, Bechtel, Mr Kevin Berg and Bechtel Project Director, QLNG, Mr Brendan Bechtel. 

Following, the Governor and Mr McCosker, accompanied by GRC Mayor, Cr. Sellers, visited  the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum, Gladstone City, welcomed by Director and Manager, Arts and Heritage, Ms Pamela Whitlock, where they viewed current exhibitions, then joined staff and volunteers for afternoon tea.

In the evening, the Governor and Mr Stuart McCosker were Guests of Honour at a Civic Reception at Flinders Restaurant, Gladstone City, hosted by GRC Mayor, Cr. Gail Sellers, with Federal Member for Flynn, Mr Kevin O'Dowd MP, State Member for Gladstone, Ms Liz Cunningham MP, Mayor, Rockhampton Regional Council, Cr. Brad Carter, GRC Councillors and staff, senior GPC members, local business and industry representatives and community leaders.

Her Excellency Ms Penelope Wensley AC attended a program of activities at the Scenic Rim Arts and Cultural Centre, Brisbane Street, Beaudesert, to celebrate the Centre's Fifth Birthday and  launch the  Studios and Cultural Trails of the Scenic Rim program for 2012, where Her Excellency, accompanied by SRRC Arts and Cultural Co-ordinator, Ms Bronwyn Davis, viewed an exhibition in the Centre's Gallery, "Open Doors", and met contributing  artists, then, in the presence of Member for Beaudesert, Mr Aidan McLindon MP, SRRC Councillors, Centre staff, sponsors and supporters of the Studios and Cultural Trails Program, participating artists, local and regional tourism operators and invited guests, including Director, Creative Communities, Arts Development, Arts Queensland, Ms Deb Miles, delivered an address, formally launching the Booklet " Studios and Cultural Trails of the Scenic Rim", a Guide to local artists and performers, cultural venues, arts events and activities across the Scenic Rim region. Following, the Governor joined Mayor John Brent in cutting a birthday cake for The Centre, then attended a presentation on cultural tourism in the Centre Theatre, by guest speakers, Dr Susan Carson, Senior Lecturer, Creative Industries Faculty, Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and Ms Celestine Doyle, Executive Manager, Marketing and Business Development, Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art.

Her Excellency, Ms Penelope Wensley AC, Patron, Australian Red Cross (Queensland Division), Patron, Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal in Queensland, Deputy Prior, Order of St John, St John Ambulance, Queensland and Patron, Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland (RNA), visited the Flood Evacuation Centre, at the RNA Showgrounds, Brisbane, established to assist evacuees from St George, greeted by Deputy Mayor, Brisbane City Council, Cr Adrian Schrinner, Chief Executive, RNA, Mr Jonathan Tunny, Executive Director Queensland, Australian Red Cross, Mr Kevin Keeffe, Executive Officer, Brisbane District Disaster Management Group, Inspector Dave Morganti, Manager, Disaster Operations, Brisbane City Council, Mr Jason Cameron, where the Governor was briefed on the Centre operations, met evacuees and viewed the Centre facilities, being operated by the Commonwealth Department of Human Services, Queensland Department of Communities, Emergency Services personnel and a range of volunteer organisations, including the Red Cross, St John Ambulance,  and The Salvation Army and thanked all those providing services and assistance to the evacuees and others affected by the floods in south western Queensland.

In the morning, Her Excellency and Mr McCosker, accompanied by RRC Mayor, Councillor Brad Carter, attended the annual Reconciliation Football Carnival, organised by the Central Queensland Indigenous Development association (CQID), at the Central Queensland (CQ) University, Rockhampton Campus Sports Grounds, welcomed by Carnival Ambassadors Mr Rhys Wesser and Mr David Peachey. 

Following, the Governor and Mr McCosker attended a community event marking the first anniversary of the January 2011 floods in Rockhampton and the RRC region, the Community Clean-Up Anniversary Commemoration, at the Riverbank, Rockhampton, where Her Excellency and Mr McCosker met SES workers, volunteers and community members who assisted with the Clean Up Day in 2011.

Following, the Governor delivered an address acknowledging those affected by the floods and recognising and thanking all who assisted with the response and recovery efforts, the joined Mayor, Cr Brad Carter and State Member for Keppel, Mr Paul Hoolihan MP, representing the Premier and Minister for Reconstruction, the Honourable Anna Bligh MP in unveiling a new flood marker and commemoration plaque, presented to the Queensland Disaster Heroes of the Rockhampton Region in 2011.

Her Excellency, Ms Penelope Wensley AC, Patron of the Spinal Injuries Association of Queensland, officiated at a ceremony at Government House for the presentation of the 2011 Inclusive Community Champions Awards, with Association President, Mr David Riley, where, in the presence of Shadow Minister, Child Safety, Disability Services and Mental Health, Ms Tracy Davis MP, Mayor, Bundaberg Regional Council, Councillor Lorraine Pyefinch, Brisbane City Councillor, The Gap Ward, Councillor Geraldine Knapp, State Manager, Queensland, National Disability Services, Ms Valmae Rose, Acting Director-General, Department of Communities, Ms Helen Ferguson, Gold Coast City Council Manager for Social Planning, Ms Kathy Colverhouse and CEO, Queensland Tourism Industry Council, Mr Daniel Gschwind, the Governor delivered an address and presented  Awards  to four State finalists, then the overall State Champion Award for 2011 to  the Gold Coast City Council for the Kurrawa All Abilities Playground. In Gympie, in the evening, the Governor and Mr McCosker were Guests of Honour at  the 100th Speech Night of the Gympie State High School, Hamilton Hall, Cootharaba Road, Gympie, welcomed by Principal, Gympie State High School (GSHS), Mr Murray Wegner, Deputy Principals, Ms Rosemary O'Donohue, Mrs Glenys Chatman, Mr Brett Allan and School Captains, Miss Hayley McFarlane and Mr Tom Manthey, where, in the presence of the Member for Gympie and Shadow Minister for Local Government and Sport, Mr David Gibson MP, Federal Member for Wide Bay and Shadow Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, The Honourable Warren Truss MP, Mayor, Gympie Regional Council, Councillor Ron Dyne, Regional Director, North Coast Region, Department of Education, Mr Greg Peach, GSHS teachers and students and their families, Her Excellency delivered an address and presented the ‘Class of 1950-1951 Outstanding Citizenship Award' to Year 12 Student, Ms Jess Luhrs and the ‘University of Southern Queensland Community Award' to Year 10 student, Ms Heidi Torrens.  Following, Her Excellency and Mr McCosker observed the presentation of Awards for Years 8-12, the Special Junior and Senior Sponsored Awards and Outstanding Achievement Awards and performances by the School's Strings Group, the GSHS Concert Band, Stage Band, Music Extension Class and Country Music School of Excellence, then joined Award winners, members of the school community and guests for supper.

Her Excellency, Ms Penelope Wensley AC, and Mr Stuart McCosker greeted Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh on their arrival at Brisbane Airport for a  short visit to Queensland, joined by the Premier and Minister for Reconstruction, The Honourable Anna Bligh MP and Mr Greg Withers, assisted by State Royal Visit Director, Protocol Queensland, Department of the Premier and Cabinet, Mr Ross Sue See MVO and State Visit Co-ordinator, Airport and Program Support, Mrs Emily Nagel.

In the afternoon,  Her Excellency and Mr McCosker hosted a  luncheon at the River Room, South Bank in honour of Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, with  members of the Queensland community representing a range of sectors and organisations, joined by the Premier and Minister for Reconstruction, the Honourable Anna Bligh MP and Mr Greg Withers, the Leader of the Opposition, Mr Jeff Seeney MP and Mrs Therese Seeney and the Lord Mayor of Brisbane, The Honourable Graham Quirk and Mrs Anne Quirk, where the Governor formally welcomed Her Majesty and His Royal Highness to Queensland and proposed the Loyal Toast.

Following, the Governor and Mr McCosker departed South Bank for the Brisbane Airport, to farewell Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness, the Duke of Edinburgh, joined by the Premier and Minister for Reconstruction, The Honourable Anna Bligh MP and Mr Greg Withers, assisted by State Royal Visit Director, Protocol Queensland, Department of the Premier and Cabinet,  Mr Ross Sue See MVO and State Visit Co-ordinator, Airport and Program Support, Mrs Emily Nagel.

In the evening, the Governor, Patron, Naval Association of Australia, Queensland Section Inc, Navy League of Australia (NLA), Queensland Division and Honorary Member, United Service Club, visited the United Service Club (USC), Wickham Terrace, Brisbane, welcomed by NLA President Mr Harvey Greenfield and President, The Naval Officers' Club of Queensland , Captain Laurence Watson RAN (Rtd), to attend a dinner to commemorate the 206th Anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar, where, in the presence of the Federal President, Naval League of Australia, Commander Graham Harris RAN (Rtd), NLA Queensland Division, NOCQ and USC members and guests, the Governor delivered the annual Trafalgar Day Address.  Also, in the evening, Mr Stuart McCosker, Adjunct Professor, School of Veterinary Science, University of Queensland (UQ), attended a dinner at the Rooftop Terrace, Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane, to celebrate 75 Years of Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland (UQ), welcomed by UQ Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Michael Keniger.

Her Excellency, Patron of the Queensland Rifle Association and Mr Stuart McCosker visited the  Belmont Shooting Complex, Old Cleveland Road, Belmont, location of  the 2011 World Long Range Championships of the International Confederation of Fullbore Rifle Associations (ICFRA), being held for the first time in Australia, hosted by the National Rifle Association of Australia (NRAA), welcomed by NRAA Chairman, Mr John Fitzgerald and President of the  Queensland Rifle Association, Mr Rod Bickell, where Her Excellency inspected a Guard of Honour from the 136 Army Cadet Unit, Alexandra Hills, commanded by Captain Roland Heath, then joined ICFRA President, Mr Tony Loughnan and Secretary-General, Mr Colin Cheshire OBE,  Chairman, ICFRA World Championships Committee, Mr Geoff Grosskreutz,  NRAA and QRA members, interstate and international shooting teams, individual shooters and visitors for the Queen's Prize presentation ceremony, where the Governor delivered an address and presented a Badge and Trophy  to the winner of the Queen's Prize and  Badges to the winners of the A, B and C Grade and F Class Open and F Class Standard A and B competitions.

Her Excellency Ms Penelope Wensley AC visited the Cairns Colonial Club Resort Conference Centre,  welcomed by the Mayor, Cairns Regional Council, Cr Val Schier, to attend the opening session of the 19th Floral Art Conference of the Floral Art Society of Queensland (FASQ), affiliated with the Australian Floral Art Association and the World Association of Flower Arrangers, greeted by FASQ President, Mrs Margaret Ferris, President, Australian Floral Art Association, Mrs Eileen Wenn, President, Far North Queensland Floral Art Designers, Mrs Angela Lewis and Conference Secretary, Mrs Helen Murray, where the Governor delivered an address and formally opened the Conference, then presented four awards: Championship, Best in Show, Best Use of Foliage and Best Creative Design,  before joining FASQ members, delegates, interstate and overseas visitors, conference sponsors and guests for morning tea.  Following the Governor viewed the floral exhibits, then attended a demonstration by International Floral Artist, Madame Marie Francoise Deprez.

Following, the Governor and Mr McCosker met two Queensland designers featured in the exhibition, Ms Kathy Mclay and Ms Ari Athans, then viewed the jewellery exhibition and an accompanying exhibition, "Faramita", of works by Queensland ceramicist, Dai Li, opened earlier in the evening at the Crucible Gallery, within the Artisan Gallery, by Mr Bruce Heiser, Director, Heiser Gallery, Brisbane.

In the morning, Her Excellency, Ms Penelope Wensley AC, Patron of the 5th  World Congress of Conservation Agriculture (WCCA), officiated at the opening of the Congress and of the 3rd Farming Systems Design Conference at the Brisbane Exhibition and Convention Centre, co-hosted by  Foundation Sponsors, the Australian Centre for International Agriculture Research (ACIAR) and the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC), greeted by ACIAR Chief Executive, Dr Nick Austin and GRDC Chairman, Mr Keith Perrett, where the Governor delivered an address and formally opened the Congress, then heard welcome remarks by the Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, The Honourable Dr Mike Kelly AM, MP and a keynote address by the Director General, Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (EMBRAPA), Dr Pedro Arreas. Following, the Governor greeted the Minister of Agriculture of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Mr Vilayvan Phomkhe and the Director of International Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture, Tunisian Republic, Ms Salwa Khiari, and other international delegates from Brazil, India and Syria, and visited the Congress exhibition booths and displays to meet and thank Congress sponsors and supporting organisations, including AUSAID, CSIRO, Landcare, Meat and Livestock Australia and the Crawford Fund, before joining delegates and members of the Congress local organising committee, including Co-Chairmen, Dr John Dixon (ACIAR) and Mr Stuart Kearns (GRDC), for morning tea.

Her Excellency, Ms Penelope Wensley AC, departed Brisbane for Toowoomba, to attend the 2011 Sister Cities Australia  Conference and Youth Program, hosted by the Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) and Sister Cities Australia (SCA), at the Toowoomba City Golf Club, South Street, Toowoomba, welcomed by TRC Mayor, Cr Peter Taylor and TRC Manager, Sister Cities Relations, Ms Dyan Currie, where  the Governor joined Mayor Taylor and  SCA President, Alderman Bill Wilson, Devonport City Council, Tasmania, in welcoming delegates, then delivered the Opening Keynote Address and formally opened the Conference. Following, Her Excellency attended a Mayoral Reception at the Panorama Room, Picnic Point, Toowoomba, hosted by TRC Mayor, Cr Peter Taylor and TRC Councillors, in honour of international delegates and cultural performance groups attending the SCA Conference, from Japan, New Zealand and the Republic of Korea, representing the  Toowoomba Sister Cities of Takatsuki, Paju City and Wanganui, led by Takatsuki Mayor, The Honourable Takashi Hamada, Wanganui Mayor, Ms Annette Main and Paju Deputy Mayor, Mr Chung Sik Cho.

Her Excellency Ms Penelope Wensley AC departed Brisbane for Kilcoy, welcomed on arrival at the Kilcoy Memorial Hall by Somerset Regional Council (SRC) Mayor, Cr Graeme Lehmann and Mrs Judy Lehmann, for a community tribute to Mrs Kay Avery OAM (d'cd), prior to the Official Opening of the 'Kay Avery Place' community centre and new Somerset Region Library and Service Centre, Kennedy Street, Kilcoy, where the Governor delivered an address, then joined SRC Mayor, Cr Graeme Lehmann in unveiling a plaque and opening Kay Avery Place.  Following, the Governor visited the new community space and viewed a display presented by the Kilcoy Historical Society, then, accompanied by Mayor Lehmann, unveiled a plaque and formally opened, then tourerd the new Library, greeted by Somerset Regional Library Manager, Ms Anita Aurisch and SRC Library Administrator, Ms Shirley Paff.  In the afternoon, Her Excellency viewed a dance display at the Kilcoy Memorial Hall, then joined the Mayor, SRC Councillors, members of Mrs Avery's family, friends and community members for luncheon before departing Kilcoy for Brisbane.

On Good Friday, in the morning, Her Excellency, Ms Penelope Wensley AC, as Patron of the Queensland Cruising Yacht Club (QCYC), and Mr Stuart McCosker, attended the Official Start of the 63rd Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race,  welcomed on arrival at the QCYC Marina, Shorncliffe by State Member for Sandgate, Ms Vicki Darling MP, QCYC Commodore,  Mr Philip Lazzarini and QCYC Race Director, Mr Herb Prendergast. Following, the Governor and Mr McCosker boarded the Official Start Vessel, "South Pacific II", skippered by Mr Ron Jenyns, to travel to the start area in Moreton Bay, joined by Gladstone Regional Council Mayor, Cr Gail Sellers, QCYC General Manager, Mr Nigel Statham, QCYC Race Director, Mr Herb Prendergast, Yachting Queensland CEO, Mr Denis Cook, race sponsors and guests, where Mr McCosker fired the five minute warning signal and Her Excellency fired  the Official Start Signal, launching the race at midday.  Following, the "South Pacific II" followed the fleet up the Redcliffe Peninsula foreshore, before returning, in the afternoon, to the QCYC Marina.

Her Excellency Ms Penelope Wensley AC and Mr Stuart McCosker departed Brisbane for an Official Visit to the Goondiwindi Region, welcomed on arrival in Goondiwindi by the Mayor, Goondiwindi Regional Council (GRC), Cr Graeme Scheu, where the Governor and Mr McCosker joined the Mayor, GRC Council staff members, Emergency Management Queensland personnel, Police, Queensland Ambulance Service representatives and members of the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) at a morning tea and briefing on the impact of the 2011 rains and floods on the region and on local response and recovery efforts.

Following, the Governor and Mr McCosker, accompanied by the Mayor, travelled to Yelarbon to meet members of the local State Emergency Services (SES) group at their headquarters, welcomed by Emergency Management Queensland (EMQ), Area Director, Mr Chris Artiemiew, then to Inglewood to meet the local State Emergency Services (SES) group at the Inglewood Civic Centre, welcomed by Emergency Management Queensland (EMQ), Area Director, Mr Chris Artiemiew and SES Controller, Ms Ann McGlashan.

In the afternoon, the Governor and Mr McCosker, accompanied by the Mayor, attended a luncheon with members of the Inglewood Chamber of Commerce (ICC), welcomed by ICC President, Mr Geoff Lyons, at the Rosa Bella Nursery, Inglewood, where Her Excellency and Mr McCosker were briefed on the impacts of the floods on business in Inglewood and on future plans for Coolmunda Dam as a tourist attraction.

Following, the Governor and Mr McCosker, accompanied by the Mayor, visited the Coolmunda Dam, then travelled to Texas to the Community Health Centre, greeted by Director of Nursing, Texas, where the Governor and Mr McCosker toured the centre and met residents and staff, prior to attending meeting with the Texas Multi Purpose Health Service Community Advisory Network (CAN) at the Community Health Centre, welcomed by CAN Chairman and Queensland Police Sergeant, Greg Moore, where the Governor and Mr McCosker were briefed on the Network's activities and response to issues relating to the recent floods and on-going impacts in the region.

Later, the Governor and Mr McCosker met local farmers and community members, Mr Ron Teese and Mr Darryl Cleeve, who were affected by the recent floods, prior to travelling to Glenarbon to view flood-affected areas of the region and flood-damaged roads and infrastructure.

In the evening, Her Excellency as Patron of Bowls Queensland, the Creche and Kindergarten Association, Girl Guides Australia (Queensland), Queensland Meals on Wheels Services Association, Queensland Water and Landcarers (QWaLC) and as State Chief Scout, Scout Association of Australia, and Mr McCosker were Guests of Honour at a community BBQ, at the Goondiwindi Natural Heritage Water Park, attended by representatives of these and other community service organisations, hosted by the Goondiwindi Regional Council and catered for by the Rotary Club of Goondiwindi.

Her Excellency and Mr Stuart McCosker departed Brisbane for an Official Visit to the North Burnett Region (NBR), welcomed on arrival in Gayndah by the Mayor, North Burnett Regional Council, Cr Joy Jensen.

In the afternoon, the Governor and Mr McCosker joined the Mayor, NBR Council staff members, State Emergency Service personnel, Police and members of the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) at an afternoon tea and were briefed on the impact of the 2010-11 rains and floods in the North Burnett Region and on local response and recovery efforts.

In the evening, Her Excellency, as Patron of Bowls Queensland, and Mr Stuart McCosker were Guests of Honour at a dinner with BRC Councillors and regional bowls club members, at the Gayndah Bowls Club, co-hosted by Mayor, Cr Joy Jensen and Queensland Bowls Ladies District President, Mrs Helen Walker.

The Governor and Mr McCosker departed Brisbane, for Bundaberg welcomed by the Mayor of Bundaberg Regional Council (BRC), Cr Lorraine Pyefinch, Cr David Batt and CEO, Mr Peter Byrne.

Following, the Governor and Mr McCosker accompanied by the Mayor, Cr Batt and CEO travelled to Childers, where they visited the Soldiers' Memorial Hall and Isis Memorial Precinct, then the Childers Regional Gallery Palace Memorial Building, welcomed by Deputy Mayor, Cr Tony Ricciardi, for a morning tea to meet and thank members of the business community and local police, emergency services personnel and representatives of service organisations who assisted with the response to the 2010-11 floods in Childers.

In the afternoon, the Governor and Mr McCosker, accompanied by the Mayor, Cr Batt and CEO, travelled to Gin Gin via Booyal Crossing to attend a community luncheon at the Gin Gin Showgrounds Community Hall, welcomed by Councillor Wayne Honor, where the Governor and Mr McCosker met local police, emergency services personnel and representatives of service organisations who assisted flood affected members of the community and travellers stranded by the 2011 floods.

Following the Governor and Mr McCosker, accompanied by the Mayor, Cr Batt and CEO, viewed flood damage in the Gin Gin and Bundaberg area, then returned to Bundaberg.

Following, the Governor and Mr McCosker, accompanied by the Mayor and Mr Jacobs, visited the Fernvale State School, greeted by Principal, Mr David Raine and school student leaders, where the Governor was briefed on the impact of the 2010-11 floods on Fernvale, including the school, and met students and staff affected by the flood.

Following, the Governor and Mr McCosker, accompanied by the Mayor and Mr Jacobs, travelled to Esk via Wivenhoe Dam, for a meeting and morning tea with Councillors, Council staff and members of the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG), at the Somerset Council Chambers, where the Governor was briefed more broadly on the impact of the rains and floods on the Somerset Region and on local response and recovery efforts.

Following, the Governor and Mr McCosker visited the Esk Fire Station, welcomed by Fire Fighter, Urban Fire Brigade, First Officer, Rural Fire Brigade and SES Volunteer, Mr Jeff Campbell and colleagues. In the afternoon, the Governor, Patron of Bowls Queensland, and Mr McCosker visited the Esk Bowling Club for a luncheon with the Mayor, Councillors, Council staff, LDMG members, representatives of service organisations and community members who were affected by the floods and who assisted with the response and recovery effort.

Following, the Governor and Mr McCosker viewed areas of Esk and infrastructure damaged by the floods, then travelled to Lowood, where they visited the Patrick East State School, welcomed by Principal, Ms Liz Bailey, for a briefing on the impact of the floods on the school and to meet students and staff , then viewed affected residences and properties in the Lowood and Fernvale area prior to departing Fernvale to return to Brisbane.

In the afternoon, Her Excellency, Patron of Bowls Queensland and Mr McCosker, visited the Goomeri Bowls Club, to attend, as Guests of Honour, an Official Luncheon to celebrate Goomeri's Centenary, welcomed by the Mayor, Gympie Regional Council, Cr Ron Dyne and Chairman, Goomeri Centenary Committee, Mr Harvy Dascombe, where the Governor met senior residents.

Following, Her Excellency, Patron of the Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland (RNA), and Mr McCosker visited the Goomeri Showgrounds, for the official opening of the Goomeri Centenary Celebrations, welcomed by Chairman, Centenary Committee, Mr Harvy Dascombe, where the Governor, as Guest of Honour, in the presence of Federal Member for Wide Bay, The Honourable Warren Truss MP, State Member for Callide, Leader of Opposition Business and Shadow Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy, Mr Jeff Seeney MP, Gympie Regional Council Mayor, Cr Ron Dyne and Deputy Mayor, Cr Tony Perrett and Councillor, Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council, Cr Bert Button, delivered an address and formally opened the Centenary celebrations, then viewed a re-enactment of the 1911 ‘Great Land Sale' and a public auction of blocks made available by the Gympie Regional Council.  (click for speech)

Following, Her Excellency, as Patron of the Queensland Country Women's Association and Mr McCosker attended a function to celebrate World Rural Women's Day 2010, Wooroolin Community Town Hall, Wooroolin, welcomed by the Joint State President and Board Member, Queensland Rural Women's Network (QRWN), Mrs Georgie Somerset, Manager, Centacare South Burnett, Ms Louise Judge and President, QRWN, Barambah Branch, Ms Karen Sieler.  In the presence of the Member for Nanango, Ms Dorothy Pratt MP, Mayor, South Burnett Regional Council, Cr David Carter, Councillors, South Burnett Regional Council, Cr Kathy Duff and Cheryl Dalton, Her Excellency delivered an address and joined guests for luncheon.

In the afternoon, the Governor and Mr McCosker visited the South Burnett Renal Unit, Kingaroy Hospital, welcomed at the Renal Unit, by Medical Superintendent, Kingaroy Hospital, Dr Casim Makada and President, Kingaroy Hospital Auxiliary, Dr Julian Mullins OAM, MBE, and Queensland Health, District Chief Executive Officer, Darling Downs-West Moreton Health Service District, Ms Pam Lane, then joined the Member for Nanango, Ms Dorothy Pratt MP, Mayor, South Burnett Regional Council, Cr David Carter, Councillor, South Burnett Regional Council, Cr Keith Campbell and Lady Flo Bjelke-Petersen and guests for afternoon tea to celebrate one year of operation at the Unit.

In the evening, Her Excellency and McCosker were Guests of Honour at the Fifty-Third Annual Speech Night Dinner at the Kingaroy State High School (KSHS), welcomed by KSHS Principal, Mr David Ballin and Deputy Principal, Ms Helen Maudsley.

Following, the Governor and Mr McCosker joined the KSHS school community at the Fifty-Third Annual Speech Night at the Kingaroy Town Hall, welcomed by Parents and Citizens Association Chairman, Mrs Debbie Jackson, where, in the presence of the Member for Nanango, Ms Dorothy Pratt MP, Mayor, South Burnett Regional Council, Cr. David Carter and other senior South Burnett representatives, the Governor delivered an address and presented a number of Special Awards, then joined teachers, students and guests at a reception.

Her Excellency Ms Penelope Wensley AO and Mr Stuart McCosker departed Brisbane for Townsville for an official visit to Burdekin Shire, welcomed by Burdekin Shire Council Mayor, Cr Lyn McLaughlin. 

Following a tour of Ayr, in the afternoon, Her Excellency and Mr McCosker attended a ceremony at Home Hill to mark the recognition of The Burdekin River Bridge as an Engineering Heritage National Landmark, an award conferred by Engineering Heritage Australia (EHA), welcomed by EHA National Chairman, Mr Owen Peake, President, Engineers Australia, Queensland, Mr Mike Brady and Chairman, Townsville Local Group, Engineers Australia, Ms Jan Ballard, where, in the presence of the Member for Burdekin, Mrs Rosemary Menkens MP and Burdekin Shire Council Mayor, Cr Lyn McLaughlin, Her Excellency delivered an address, then, with Regional Director, Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, Mr David Atkinson, unveiled a plaque and replica Interpretive Panel, marking the National Landmark Award.

Following, the Governor and Mr McCosker joined official guests, members of the Queensland engineering community, relatives of engineers and others associated with the design and construction of the Bridge, and members of the Lower Burdekin Bridge Society for afternoon tea, hosted by the Townsville Local Group, Engineers Australia. 

Following, the Governor and Mr McCosker, accompanied by Burdekin Shire Council Mayor, Cr Lyn McLaughlin, visited the Silver Links Interpretive Centre and Zaro Cultural Gallery in Home Hill, prior to visiting a cane farm at Mona Park, welcomed by owner, Mr David Cox, where the Governor and Mr McCosker toured the farm and viewed current harvesting operations.

Her Excellency Ms Penelope Wensley AO, as Patron of the National Parks Association of Queensland and the National Trust, Queensland, Mr Stuart McCosker and Ms Louise Ahern, Senior Adviser, Office of the Governor, departed Brisbane for Raby Bay, Cleveland, to visit Peel Island, hosted by Acting Regional Manager, Heritage Parks Unit, Moreton Bay Region, Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) Mr John Esdaile.  At Peel Island, the Governor and Mr McCosker, accompanied by the President of the Friends of Peel Island Association (FOPIA), Mr Peter Hubbert, FOPIA Life Member, Mr Peter Ludlow and Member, Ms Rhonda Bryce and Mr Joe Eggmolesse, visited the site of the former Peel Island Lazaret, accompanied by QPWS Ranger in Charge, Heritage Parks Unit, Moreton Bay Region, including Teerk Roo Ra-Peel Island National Park, Mr Roland Dowling.

Her Excellency, Ms Penelope Wensley AO, as Patron of the Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland (RNA), and Mr Stuart McCosker departed Brisbane to attend the 50th Annual Texas Show, welcomed by Member for Southern Downs, Mr Lawrence Springborg MP; Mayor, Goondiwindi Regional Council, Cr Graeme Scheu; President of the Texas Show Society, Mr Daryl Cleeve and Vice-President and General Manager of Oakey Holdings, Whyalla Feedlot, Mr Christopher Fenwicke, where Her Excellency and Mr McCosker visited the Whyalla Feedlot and then viewed a display of memorabilia at the Texas Regional Art Gallery depicting 50 years of show life in the Texas district.

Following, Her Excellency and Mr McCosker viewed the grand parade prior to Her Excellency officially opening the show.

Following the official opening, the Governor and Mr McCosker joined guests and members of the Texas Show Society at a Reunion Luncheon to mark the 50th year anniversary of the Texas Show.

In the morning Her Excellency, Ms Penelope Wensley AO and Mr Stuart McCosker departed Rockhampton for Mount Morgan to visit the Mount Morgan Mine, met by Regional Director, Queensland Mine and Energy, Mr Russell Dan, where the Governor and Mr McCosker were briefed on the mine site Rehabilitation Program, and had morning tea with staff before touring the site.

Following, Her Excellency and Mr McCosker visited Gracemere to view the Gracemere Saleyards, accompanied by Mr Peter Priem, Project Manager, Economic Development and Tourism, Rockhampton Regional Council.

Following, the Governor and Mr McCosker visited Paradise Lagoons, west of Rockhampton, welcomed by owners, Mr Graeme and Mrs Jennie Acton, where, following a tour of the Campdrafting Complex, they were guests of honour at a luncheon.

In the afternoon, Her Excellency and Mr McCosker returned to Brisbane.

On arrival in Rockhampton, welcomed by the Mayor, Rockhampton Regional Council, Cr Brad Carter, Her Excellency travelled to Yeppoon to attend the 2010 Sister Cities Australia National Conference and Youth Program at the Rydges Capricorn Resort, welcomed by the President of Sister Cities Australia (SCA), Alderman Bill Wilson, where the Governor delivered the Opening Keynote address then joined delegates and international guests for morning tea.

Following, Her Excellency and Mr McCosker, accompanied by Mayor, Brad Carter, visited the Rockhampton Heritage Village, welcomed by Manager, Mr Bruce Linteel and guide, Ms Norelle Shuker.  Following a tour of the Village, joined members of the 'Friends of the Village' for luncheon.

In the afternoon, Her Excellency and Mr McCosker visited the Archer Park Railway Station and Steam Train Museum, welcomed by Operations Coordinator, Mr Dennis Sheehan.

Following, Her Excellency and Mr McCosker visited the Walter Reid Cultural Centre, welcomed by General Manager, Heritage Collection, Rockhampton Regional Council, Mr Tom Upton.

Following the Governor and Mr McCosker visited the Rockhampton Regional Council Art Gallery, met by Operations Manager, Arts and Cultural Centre, Rockhampton Regional Council, Ms Sue Smith, where the Governor and Mr McCosker viewed gallery artworks, then joined members of the Gallery Trust and Volunteers for afternoon tea.

In the evening, Her Excellency and Mr McCosker, as guests of honour, attended a Civic Reception, hosted by the Mayor of Rockhampton Regional Council, Cr Brad Carter.

Her Excellency Ms Penelope Wensley AO, as Patron of the Teneriffe Festival, and Mr Stuart McCosker attended the Inaugural Teneriffe Festival to acknowledge and celebrate Teneriffe's re-designation as a suburb of Brisbane, welcomed by State Member for Brisbane Central, Ms Grace Grace MP; Brisbane City Councillor, Central Ward, Festival Convenor, Cr David Hinchliffe; Festival Committee Chairman, Mr Richard Bodley; Festival Coordinator, Ms Nicole Ogilvie and President, New Farm and Districts Historical Society, Mr Ross Garnett.  At Catalina Park, New Farm, Her Excellency unveiled one of four plaques detailing the history of the area, then joined a group of local children for a sheep muster, evoking Teneriffe's historic connection with the wool industry in Queensland and the former role of the Teneriffe Wool Stores and wharves, before Officially opening the Festival and viewing the displays and community stalls celebrating Teneriffe's heritage, history and cultural diversity.

Her Excellency Ms Penelope Wensley AO and Mr Stuart McCosker attended a ceremony at The Spit, Somerset Dam, to mark the recognition of Somerset Dam as a National Engineering Heritage Landmark, an award conferred by Engineering Heritage Australia (EHA), welcomed by the National President, Engineers Australia, Professor Doug Hargreaves, National EHA President, Mr Owen Peake, President, Engineers Australia, Queensland Division (EAQD), Mr Mike Brady, Chairman, EHA-Queensland, Mr Andrew Barnes and Chairman, SEQWater, Mr Phil Hennessy, where, in the presence of the Mayor, Somerset Regional Council, Cr Graeme Lehmann, senior staff of SEQWater and invited guests, including members of the Queensland engineering community, relatives and families of engineers and others associated with the design, construction and operation of Somerset Dam, Her Excellency delivered an address and unveiled a replica of an Interpretive Panel, marking the Landmark Award.

In the morning Her Excellency Ms Penelope Wensley AO and Mr Stuart McCosker welcomed members of the public to an "Open Day" at Government House in celebration of Queensland Day and of the Centenary in 2010 of "Fernberg" serving as a Vice-Regal Residence, featuring guided tours of Government House and gardens, presentations and displays by Queensland historical and community associations and entertainment by the Australian Army Band, Brisbane, the Queensland Police Pipes and Drums and School and community music groups and choirs. In the afternoon, as part of Open Day, Her Excellency officiated at a rose planting ceremony to acknowledge the 15 Governors of Queensland who have resided at "Fernberg", with former Governor Ms Leneen Forde AC (1992-1997) and Mr Wallace Campbell, representing former Governor, the Honourable Sir Walter Campbell AC, QC (1985-1992).

In the morning, Her Excellency, Ms Penelope Wensley AO, and Mr Stuart McCosker attended a Ceremony to Commemorate Proclamation Day in the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens, welcomed by Commander, 1st Division Deployable Joint Force, Major General Mick Slater DSC, AM, CSC and Director of Q150 celebrations, Mr Graeme Potter.  The Governor viewed a re-enactment of the arrival by boat, of Queensland's first Governor Sir George Bowen and Lady Diamantina Bowen, accompanied by a flotilla of river craft and welcomed by a Cannon Salute.

Following, Her Excellency joined the Premier, the Leader of the Opposition, Chief Justice of Queensland, Lord Mayor of Brisbane and other dignitaries for the Commemoration Ceremony, where her Excellency received the Royal Salute from the Australian Federal Guard, and inspected the Guard and the Australian Army Band Brisbane, before delivering an address.

Following, Her Excellency and Mr McCosker joined the Q150 Proclamation Day Parade through the City of Brisbane to St John's Cathedral, welcomed by His Grace, The Most Reverend Dr Phillip Aspinall, Anglican Archbishop of Brisbane, for a Celebration Service of Thanksgiving, where Her Excellency delivered an address.

Following, the Governor and Mr McCosker joined the Premier, the Chief Justice, His Grace, the Most Reverend John Bathersby AO,DD. Catholic Archbishop of Brisbane, Q150 Chairman Professor Peter Coaldrake and other dignitaries for a luncheon at the Cathedral, hosted by His Grace, Archbishop Aspinall.

Following, Her Excellency and Mr McCosker as Guests of Honour, attended a Piano Recital by Mr David Helfgott, welcomed by Recital Director, Mr Andrew McKinnon.

On Monday, Her Excellency, Ms Penelope Wensley AO, visited the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), welcomed by USQ Chancellor, Mrs Bobbie Brazil and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bill Lovegrove, where the Governor met Senior Faculty members, toured the campus, visited the Japanese Garden, for a morning tea with University Council members and was briefed on key areas of USQ education including the Centres for: Sustainable Business and Development; Sustainable Catchments; Distance and E-learning; Creative Arts.

In the afternoon, Her Excellency visited the Toowoomba City Hall, welcomed by Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) Mayor, Cr Peter Taylor and CEO, Mr Ken Gouldthorp where the Governor attended a working luncheon with Councillors, Council Staff and members of the Toowoomba Regional Council Economic Development Board and was briefed on major local projects and regional developments, including the Surat Basin, Charlton Wellcamp Industrial Development, Toowoomba Bypass and Toowoomba Airport projects.

Her Excellency, as Patron of the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH) Foundation, visited the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Neurology Department, and the UQ Centre for Clinical Research, welcomed by Chairman of the RBWH Foundation Board, Dr John Herron, to meet researchers and discuss medical research initiatives being undertaken at the Hospital.

Her Excellency and Mr McCosker, accompanied by Regional Director, Northern Region, Emergency Management Queensland, Mr Warren Bridson, travelled to Ingham, where they were welcomed by His Worship the Mayor of Hinchinbrook Shire Council, Councillor Pino Giandominico, and briefed on the North Queensland flood damage, emergency response activities and disaster recovery efforts.

Following, Her Excellency and Mr McCosker visited the Emergency Management Queensland Ingham Coordination Centre, Recovery Centre, and flood affected areas, to meet affected members of the community and emergency workers providing assistance to the region.

In the evening, Her Excellency, as Patron of the North Queensland Ensembles Inc., accompanied by Mr McCosker, attended and addressed guests at the launch of the Great Barrier Reef Orchestra's 2009 Concert Program, at the Riverway Arts Centre, Townsville.

Her Excellency Ms Penelope Wensley AO was welcomed by Her Worship the Mayor of Paroo Shire Council, Councillor Jo Sheppard, then visited the Paroo Shire Council offices for a briefing on local issues and development activities, prior to undertaking a tour of local indigenous housing areas.

Following, Her Excellency, accompanied by Councillor Sheppard, visited the Cunnamulla Fella Centre, the Cunnamulla Heritage Museum and the Artesian Time Tunnel, prior to visiting an organic wheat farm near Cunnamulla, hosted by owner Councillor Don Dunsdon.

In the evening, Her Excellency visited the Cunnamulla Regional Art Gallery, hosted by Councillor Sheppard as Mayor and Chairman of the Paroo Shire Regional Arts Development Committee, to open an art exhibition of local emerging artists, the first to be funded under the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF).
