Government House officially welcomed His Excellency the Honourable Thomas Bradley KC, the 28th Governor of Queensland, and his partner, Dr Matthew Yoong, to Fernberg Estate on Sunday 1 November 2026.
A reception hosted at Government House marked the beginning of their new chapter at Fernberg, bringing together family, friends, Government House staff and invited guests to welcome His Excellency and Dr Yoong to their new home.
The sounds of KOKWAM KORES welcomed guests to Government House, with performances by KOKWAM KORES and the Crown Law Choir adding to the occasion.
Among those attending were the Premier of Queensland, the Chief Justice of Queensland, the Deputy Premier, senior representatives of government and the judiciary, and members of the wider Queensland community.
The reception provided an opportunity for guests to extend their congratulations and welcome His Excellency and Dr Yoong as they begin their time at Government House.
As the 28th Governor of Queensland, His Excellency will undertake the important constitutional, civic and ceremonial responsibilities of the office, while representing Queenslanders across the State.
The occasion marked the beginning of a new Vice-Regal term and the continuation of Government House’s longstanding connection with the people of Queensland.
