This morning, at Government House, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, Governor of Queensland, received Ms Leanne Clare, First Clerk Assistant of the Parliament, for the presentation of four bills for Assent:

Constitution of Queensland and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2016 - a bill for an Act to amend the Constitution of Queensland 2001 and the Parliament of Queensland Act 2001 for particular purposes;

Australian Crime Commission (Queensland) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2016 - a bill for an Act to amend the Australian Crime Commission (Queensland) Act 2003, the Fire and Emergency Services Act 1990, the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000, the Weapons Act 1990 and the legislation mentioned in schedule 1 for particular purposes;

Child Protection (Mandatory Reporting—Mason’s Law) Amendment Bill 2016 - a bill for an Act to amend the Child Protection Act 1999 for particular purposes; and

Health and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2016 - a bill for an Act to amend the Criminal Code, the Hospital and Health Boards Act 2011, the Public Health Act 2005 and the Queensland Institute of Medical Research Act 1945 and the legislation mentioned in schedule 1 for particular purposes.

The granting of Royal Assent to bills passed by the Legislative Assembly is one of the Governor's key constitutional duties, and is an integral part of an Act of Parliament becoming the law of the land.
