His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, Governor of Queensland, and Mrs Kaye de Jersey will undertake vice-regal duties from Gladstone from Monday 7 September until Thursday 10 September for the sixth Regional Government House programme.
The essence of Regional Government House is to conduct Government House operations for up to a week from a regional centre, and replicate so far as possible in the regional centre what would otherwise happen in the capital.
Using Gladstone as a base, the vice-regal couple will also visit Maryborough, Boyne Island/Tannum Sands and Moranbah.
The Governor and Mrs Kaye de Jersey will undertake at least 25 programme elements, including receiving a briefing from local government representatives, visiting four local schools, visiting and meeting emergency services personnel, hosting community receptions, hosting investiture ceremonies, and visiting and receiving briefings on infrastructure projects.
This is the sixth Regional Government House undertaken by the Governor and Mrs de Jersey, following successful programmes based in Cairns (2015), Longreach (2016), Mackay (2017), Cairns and Weipa (2018) and Mount Isa (2019).
His Excellency was sworn in as Queensland’s 26th Governor on 29 July 2014 for an initial five-year term, and fulfils important constitutional, ceremonial and community duties. In November 2018, the Governor’s term was extended for another two years, through to 29 July 2021.
