This morning, at Government House, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, Governor of Queensland, received the Clerk of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland, Mr Neil Laurie, for the presentation of  the following Bills, to which the Governor granted Assent:

Implementation of The Spit Master Plan Bill 2020: a Bill for an Act to facilitate the implementation of a master plan for the Southport Spit, and to amend this Act, the Gold Coast Waterways Authority Act 2012, the Land Act 1994 and the Planning Act 2016 for particular purposes;

Police Powers and Responsibilities and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2020: a Bill for an Act to amend the Child Protection (Offender Reporting and Offender Prohibition Order) Act 2004, the Crime and Corruption Act 2001, the Criminal Code, the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012, the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000, the Public Safety Preservation Act 1986, the Weapons Act 1990, the Weapons Categories Regulation 1997 and the Weapons Regulation 2016 for particular purposes;

Community Based Sentences (Interstate Transfer) Bill 2020: a Bill for an Act to provide for the interstate transfer of community based sentences imposed in participating jurisdictions to be transferred, by registration, between participating jurisdictions;

Natural Resources and Other Legislation (GDA2020) Amendment Bill 2020: a Bill for an Act to amend the Cape York Peninsula Heritage Act 2007, the Geothermal Energy Act 2010, the Gold Coast Waterways Authority Act 2012, the Greenhouse Gas Storage Act 2009, the Land Act 1994, the Land Title Act 1994, the Mineral and Energy Resources (Common Provisions) Act 2014, the Mineral Resources Act 1989, the Petroleum Act 1923, the Petroleum and Gas (Production and Safety) Act 2004, the South Bank Corporation Act 1989, the Survey and Mapping Infrastructure Regulation 2014 and the Transport Infrastructure Act 1994 for particular purposes.

The granting of Royal Assent to Bills passed by the Legislative Assembly is one of the Governor's key constitutional duties, and is an integral part of an Act of Parliament becoming the law of the land.
