The Governor of Queensland has today released an official message to all Queenslanders regarding COVID-19:
"The COVID-19 pandemic is affecting all of us in Queensland in an unprecedented way.
While we are only beginning to understand and adjust to the changes in our lives that his pandemic requires, I would like to take this opportunity to encourage all Queenslanders to meet these challenges with the same determination, resilience and goodwill that I have been privileged to observe during my past six years as your Governor.
Through drought, bushfires, floods and cyclones I have witnessed Queenslanders readily display the impressive depth and strength of our unique Queensland character.
The big hearted, generous nature of our people, the willingness to help others in times of need and particularly the compassion to help our vulnerable, have always been readily on display in these situations. I know they will again come to the fore as we together deal with the challenges of this difficult public health issue.
On behalf of all Queenslanders, I also express my admiration and appreciation for the healthcare professionals and emergency services personnel who embody the commitment and empathy of our community. We are so grateful for their dedication to us all.
Please at this time look after yourself and those closest to you, consider your neighbour, help the frail and vulnerable and together we will prevail."
