More Queenslanders visited Government House last year than in the previous year, despite the estate being closed to visitors in April and May due to coronavirus.
The most recent visitation figures – 20,999 visitors at Open Days, ceremonies and receptions, compared to 19,253 in the previous financial year – were recorded in the Office of the Governor annual report, which was today tabled in the Legislative Assembly.
The annual report also reveals the tempo of the Governor’s constitutional, ceremonial, and community duties remained high this year – at 646 engagements (compared to 651 engagements the previous year).
During the financial year, Government House successfully prioritised the Governor’s constitutional duties – maintaining stable executive government – while also continuing the Governor’s community and ceremonial outreach, much of which took place online due to coronavirus.
The annual report is an integral part of the Office of the Governor’s corporate governance framework, and details objectives, activities and performance of Government House during the period 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020.
