This afternoon, at Government House, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC CVO, Governor of Queensland, received Clerk of the Parliament, Mr Neil Laurie for the presentation of the following Bill to which the Governor granted Royal Assent:

Public Health and Other Legislation (Further Extension of Expiring Provisions) Amendment Bill 2021 - an Act to amend the Body Corporate and Community Management Act 1997, the Corrective Services Act 2006, the COVID-19 Emergency Response Act 2020, the Economic Development (COVID-19 Emergency Response) Regulation 2020, the Environmental Protection Act 1994, the Explosives Legislation (COVID-19 Emergency Response) Regulation 2020, the Gaming Machine Act 1991, the Health Legislation (COVID-19 Emergency Response) Regulation 2020, the Holidays Act 1983, the Hospital and Health Boards Act 2011, the Industrial Relations Act 2016, the Justice and Other Legislation (COVID-19 Emergency Response) Amendment Act 2020, the Mental Health Act 2016, the Public Health Act 2005, the Public Health and Other Legislation (Extension of Expiring Provisions) Amendment Act 2021, the Public Health and Other Legislation (Public Health Emergency) Amendment Act 2020, the Right to Information Act 2009 and the Transport Operations (Passenger Transport) Act 1994 for particular purposes, and to repeal the Personalised Transport Ombudsman Act 2019.

The granting of Royal Assent to Bills passed by the Legislative Assembly is one of the Governor's key constitutional duties, and is an integral part of an Act of Parliament becoming the law of the land.
