The Governor’s Official Program is comprised of a wide range of constitutional and legal duties and ceremonial and community engagements. Each year, the Governor hosts thousands of visitors to Government House to take part in investiture and award ceremonies, Open Days, receptions and meetings, and travels widely throughout Queensland to support the activities of Patron groups. On Saturday, in the morning, at Karumba, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC and Mrs Kaye de Jersey attended the opening of the Les Wilson Barramundi Discovery Centre, and the Governor officially opened the Centre, and addressed guests.
Following, at the Les Wilson Barramundi Discovery Centre, Karumba, His Excellency and Mrs de Jersey received a briefing from Carpentaria Shire Council representatives.
Following, at the Australian-American War Memorial, Newstead, His Excellency was represented by Commander Peter Tedman DSM OAM, Honorary Aide-de-Camp, at the commemoration service to mark the 77th anniversary of the Battle of the Coral Sea, and Commander Tedman laid a wreath.
In the afternoon, His Excellency and Mrs de Jersey returned to Government House following official travel to Cairns, Yarrabah and Karumba.
