The Governor has a role in unifying and promoting Queensland and Queensland organisations by undertaking activities that assist, promote, encourage and recognise Queenslanders across a wide range of community interests. The acceptance of vice-regal patronage from worthy organisations and events, which aim to improve the lives of Queenslanders, is the principal way in which this support is provided.
Patronage organisations are generally Queensland-based community groups and associations with no political agenda. The Governor accepts patronage according to rigorous guidelines.
How to invite the Governor to be your Patron
Vice-regal patronage is a personal honour bestowed by each Governor and/or their spouse. It does not automatically transfer with a transition of Governor.
Organisations wishing to invite the Governor and/or Professor Nimmo to accept patronage or another honorary appointment should complete and submit the following form so that a review process can be undertaken. Written advice on the outcome of requests will be provided after 1 November 2021.
Should you have any questions regarding the patronage request process, please do not hesitate to contact the Office of the Governor.
