Governor's Program

The Governor’s Official Program is comprised of a wide range of constitutional and legal duties and ceremonial and community engagements. Each year, the Governor hosts thousands of visitors to Government House to take part in investiture and award ceremonies, Open Days, receptions and meetings, and travels widely throughout Queensland to support the activities of Patron groups. On Wednesday, in the morning, at Pullman Reef Hotel, Cairns, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC and Mrs Kaye de Jersey hosted an Investiture Ceremony for residents of North and Far North Queensland, recipients of awards under the Australian honours and awards system announced on Australia Day 2016, and in the Bravery Honours List on 17 August 2016.

Following, at Cairns State High School, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey attended a special assembly at which His Excellency addressed guests, and then toured classrooms, before returning, in the afternoon, to Brisbane.
