The Governor’s Official Program is comprised of a wide range of constitutional and legal duties and ceremonial and community engagements. Each year, the Governor hosts thousands of visitors to Government House to take part in investiture and award ceremonies, Open Days, receptions and meetings, and travels widely throughout Queensland to support the activities of Patron groups. On Tuesday, in the morning, at St John’s Cathedral, Brisbane City, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC attended the Commonwealth Day multi-faith event to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Commonwealth, and the Governor read the 2019 Commonwealth Day Message from Her Majesty The Queen.
Following, at Government House, His Excellency and Mrs Kay de Jersey greeted members of The Moreton Club visiting for morning tea and a guided tour of the House and gardens.
In the afternoon, at Government House, His Excellency received a call and briefing from Chief Commissioner, Scouts Queensland, Mr Daryl Scott; General Manager, Mr Dougal Mayor; and Branch Commissioner, Mr Nathan Swaffer.
