Celebrate the 11th International Day of Yoga at Government House
Government House is pleased to support the Consulate General of India in Brisbane in marking the 11th International Day of Yoga, to be held on the estate’s front lawn on Saturday 21 June 2025, from 10:30am to 11:30am.
This year’s theme — Yoga for One Earth, One Health — is a powerful reminder of the deep and enduring connection between personal wellbeing and the health of our planet.
The Governor has long championed initiatives that promote physical and mental wellbeing for all Queenslanders. From hosting community wellbeing walks through the Estate’s original bushland to welcoming yoga on the front lawn, Her Excellency continues to encourage all Queenslanders to embrace active, mindful living.
This is not the first time the grounds of Government House have been turned over to yoga mats and lotus position; last year’s community session on the front lawn welcomed Queenslanders of all ages and abilities to share in the restorative power of yoga. At the time, Her Excellency noted that such practices foster meaningful connection — with self, with others, and with the natural world.
She said the benefits of yoga extended far beyond physical fitness, and that yoga and mindfulness were powerful tools supporting mental health, trauma recovery, and overall wellbeing. This event similarly seeks to make those benefits more accessible and encourage all Queenslanders to pause, stretch, and recharge in a peaceful and inclusive setting.
