Celebrating 167 Years: Queensland Day at Government House
Queenslanders flocked to Government House this weekend to celebrate Queensland Day, marking 167 years since the establishment of our State.
Following a ceremonial parade and formal proceedings on Saturday, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM and the Premier of Queensland joined guests on the Fernberg Estate for a special Queensland Day Ceremony, celebrating the people, history and spirit that define Queensland.
Across the day, visitors enjoyed a vibrant Open Day program, exploring the House and grounds, engaging with patronage organisations, and taking part in tours, live entertainment and family-friendly activities.
This year’s celebrations also recognised the 150th anniversary of the Ekka, with the Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland bringing a flavour of this iconic event to Government House.
Within the Drawing Room, historic Letters Patent and Governor Bowen’s Instructions—dating back to 6 June 1859—offered a powerful connection to Queensland’s origins and enduring story.
Thank you to all who joined us to celebrate Queensland Day at Government House.
