Exceptional Queenslanders recognised at Government House
Two Investiture Ceremonies at Government House on Tuesday will recognise a diverse group of Queenslanders whose contributions span research, education, sport, community service and public administration, alongside those serving in police, ambulance, corrections and the public service.
In the morning ceremony, honours will be presented to recipients appointed as Officers and Members of the Order of Australia, and those awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia, recognising distinguished and significant service across fields including political research, tertiary education, agriculture, business, sport, the arts and community leadership.
The afternoon ceremony will honour Queenslanders whose work strengthens communities and public institutions, with presentations of the Public Service Medal, Australian Police Medal, Ambulance Service Medal and Australian Corrections Medal, recognising outstanding public service, distinguished service in policing, and dedicated service across emergency and custodial services.
Government House Investiture Ceremonies, 14 - 21 May 2026
Across seven Investiture Ceremonies, more than 140 remarkable Queenslanders are being recognised. Their contributions span community leadership, national defence, engineering, sport and many other fields, yet each shares a common thread: a willingness to serve something greater than themselves.
Across all seven ceremonies, recipients reflect the remarkable breadth and depth of Australian achievement, with the Australian Honours and Awards system the pre-eminent way Australians recognise the achievements and service of their fellow citizens.
Each ceremony will be livestreamed via the links below, and on the Governor's Facebook page.
