Four Bills granted Royal Assent

The Governor received the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, the Honourable Patrick Weir MP, Clerk of the Parliament, Mr Neil Laurie and Deputy Sergeant-at-Arms, Mr Phil Flaherty, for the presentation of the following Bills, to which she granted Royal Assent.

A bill for an Act authorising the Treasurer to pay amounts from the consolidated fund for departments for the financial years starting 1 July 2026 and 1 July 2027

State Development and Public Works Organisation (Critical Minerals) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2026

A bill for an Act to amend the Environmental Offsets Regulation 2014, the State Development and Public Works Organisation Act 1971, the State Development and Public Works Organisation Regulation 2020 and the legislation mentioned in schedule 1 for particular purposes

Health Legislation Amendment Bill 2026

A bill for an Act to amend the Hospital and Health Boards Act 2011, the Mental Health Act 2016, the Pharmacy Business Ownership Act 2024, the Public Health Act 2005, the Public Health Regulation 2018, the Tobacco and Other Smoking Products Act 1998 and the legislation mentioned in schedule 1 for particular purposes

The passing of Appropriation Bills is an important part of Westminster convention, enabling public moneys to be paid from the consolidated fund to the public service, in accordance with Parliament's wishes.
