Government House hosts Her Royal Highness

Government House Queensland was honoured to host Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence GCVO during their official visit to Brisbane for the Royal Australian Corps of Signals Centenary celebrations.
Yesterday, in the afternoon, Her Royal Highness presided over a special Investiture Ceremony at Government House, presenting The Royal Victorian Medal (Silver) to Senior Patrol Officer Stephen Canning RVM for his distinguished service to the Office of the Governor of Queensland. This moment reflected the enduring ties between the Crown and Queensland’s institutions of service.
Her Royal Highness also held an audience with Her Excellency the Governor and Professor Nimmo, as well as the Premier and Deputy Premier, before departing Government House to travel to Singaporefollowing her multi-day visit to Australia.
Earlier in the day, the Governor and Professor Nimmo attended the RSL Queensland Remembrance Day Ceremony at Anzac Square, laying a wreath to honour all who have served and sacrificed for our country.
Later, Her Excellency joined Her Royal Highness at Gallipoli Barracks for the Centenary Reception and Sports Carnival, marking 100 years of service by the Royal Australian Corps of Signals.
As Colonel-in-Chief of RA Sigs since 1977 and Royal Patron of the Certo Cito Foundation, The Princess Royal’s presence underscored her long-standing commitment to the Corps and its values of precision and service.
This visit marks Her Royal Highness’s fourth to Queensland, following tours in 1970, 2000, and 2014 — continuing her legacy of dedication and duty.
