From 14 to 17 September, Queenslanders from across the state gathered at Fernberg to receive Australian Honours and Awards from the Governor. Across seven Investiture Ceremonies, recipients were recognised for service and achievement in fields as diverse as medicine, engineering, agriculture, the arts, defence, emergency services and community volunteering.
The ceremonies recognised recipients from the 2026 King's Birthday Honours List, together with those receiving distinguished service, military, emergency services, public service and bravery awards. Those invested as Officers and Members of the Order of Australia brought expertise from fields including medicine, psychology, engineering, agriculture and the arts. Others were recognised for their contributions to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through Indigenous health, language preservation, culture and heritage, and for their service to youth, veterans, conservation and regional Queensland, often over many decades.
Alongside them, members of the Australian Defence Force, Queensland Police Service and emergency services were honoured for their leadership, courage and commitment to the communities they serve.
As the Governor's final series of Investiture Ceremonies before the conclusion of her term in October, the week carried added significance. Since taking office in November 2021, Her Excellency has invested more than 1,000 recipients with their honours, and last week's recipients were among the final Queenslanders to receive their insignia from her.
Family, friends and supporters joined recipients for the occasion, sharing in moments of pride, gratitude and celebration. The gallery below captures some of those moments from across the four days.
