Ministerial Swearing-in at Government House

Her Excellency presided over the swearing-in of the Honourable Amanda Stoker MP as Minister for Families, Seniors and Disability Services and Minister for Child Safety and the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence, and Natalie Marr MP as Assistant Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training, at Government House.
The ceremony marked an important step in the formal assumption of their ministerial responsibilities. Under the Constitution of Queensland 2001, the Governor appoints Ministers and administers the oath or affirmation of allegiance and office, which must be taken before a Minister begins their duties.
In taking the oath, Ministers pledge their allegiance to the Sovereign and undertake to serve the people of Queensland in their respective portfolios. The ceremony was attended by family members of the incoming Minister and Assistant Minister, who joined them for this significant occasion.
Following the swearing-in, Her Excellency presided over a meeting of the Executive Council, which provides the formal constitutional process through which many government decisions are given legal effect.
