Her Excellency has joined students and teachers from Laidley State High School to celebrate National NAIDOC Week 2026 and present scholarships to Year 11 and 12 students.
The Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foundation (QATSIF) has supported 4,840 students in 2026 by providing funding for their senior schooling, adding to the more than 24,600 students supported by the Foundation since 2010.
To mark the occasion, performances by the Laidley State High School dance troupe and a choir from Laidley District State School showcased the vibrant creative talents of students from across the region.
In her remarks, the Governor encouraged students to embrace the opportunities ahead as they commence the final stages of their secondary education.

Throughout her term, Her Excellency has championed Indigenous literacy and educational opportunity as key foundations for lifelong success.
She continues to highlight the outstanding work of education providers and organisations supporting Queensland’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, recognising the important role of partnerships such as QATSIF in helping young people achieve their goals and realise their full potential.
