Queenslanders demonstrating outstanding bravery honoured
The Governor will today present Australian Honours and Awards to distinguished Queenslanders whose courage, leadership and selfless service have saved lives and strengthened community safety.
Each year the Governor takes great pride in hosting Investiture Ceremonies at Government House in Brisbane and in the north of the State to confer awards and honours presented to Queensland citizens who have made a difference to their communities.
While many people in the community know about the Order of Australia and the Australian Bravery Decorations, which are announced on Australia Day (26 January) and on The Queen’s Birthday public holiday in June, there are many other awards recognising community service, achievement, and service to the Australian Defence Force.
Government House Investiture Ceremonies, 14 - 21 May 2026
Over the next week, Government House will host seven Investiture Ceremonies, recognising more than 140 outstanding Queenslanders for their achievements and service across a wide range of fields, from community leadership and national defence to sporting excellence.
Across all seven ceremonies, recipients reflect the remarkable breadth and depth of Australian achievement. The Australian Honours and Awards system is the pre-eminent way Australians recognise the achievements and service of their fellow citizens.
Each ceremony will be livestreamed here and on the Governor's Facebook page.
