On Wednesday, in the morning, at Cairns Art Gallery, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM hosted an Investiture Ceremony for the following recipients of Australian Honours and Awards: Mr Andrew John Pyke PSM; Mr Gerald Paul Turpin PSM; and Mr Michael Ettie Misi (Commendation for Brave Conduct).

At Government House, members of Bribie Respite and Support Services visited for a guided tour of the House and gardens.  

In the afternoon, at Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire Council Office, Her Excellency and Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD received a briefing from Mayor, Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire Council, Councillor Daryl Sexton and Council representatives during a working lunch.

Following, at Yarrabah State School – Kindergarten and Primary Campus, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo toured the school, met with students and staff, and read a book to students.

Following, at “Paradise by the Sea” Jetty and Pontoon, Yarrabah, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo visited and met with local community members.

Following, at Gurriny Yealamucka Health Service Aboriginal Corporation, Yarrabah, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo received a briefing on operations, toured the facility and met with staff and patients.

Following, at Yarrabah Arts and Cultural Centre Precinct, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo toured the precinct and attended an afternoon tea with community Elders.

In the evening, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo returned to Government House from Official Travel to Cairns Regional Council and Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire Council.
