On Thursday, in the morning, at Government House, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM hosted an Investiture Ceremony for the following recipients of Australian Honours and Awards announced in the 2023 King’s Birthday Honours List and the 2024 Australia Day and King’s Birthday Honours List:
- Mr Clifford Neville Fleming AM, Associate Professor Anthony David Holley AM, Professor Elizabeth Kendall AM, Ms Linda Maree Kochanski AM, Mr Tim Low AM, The Honourable Ann Majella Lyons AM, Mr Richard James Marks AM, Dr Brendan Joseph Moore AM, Emeritus Professor Michael Paul Pender AM, The Reverend Dr Charles Richard Ringma AM, Professor Gregory Michael Scalia AM.
- Mr Leonard George Goode OAM, Mr John Harold Honeycombe OAM, Ms Astrid Jorgensen OAM, Mrs Susan Margaret Pavish OAM, Mrs Suzanne Roberts OAM, Dr Noel Clyde Robinson OAM, Dr Margaret Louise Ward PSM OAM.
Following, at 1 William Street, Her Excellency presided at a meeting of Executive Council.
In the afternoon, at Government House, Her Excellency received the Clerk of the Parliament, Mr Neil Laurie, for the presentation of seven Bills for Assent: Assisted Reproductive Technology Bill 2024; Respect at Work and Other Matters Amendment Bill 2024; Criminal Justice Legislation (Sexual Violence and Other Matters) Amendment Bill 2024; Child Safe Organisations Bill 2024; Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2024; Tobacco and Other Smoking Products (Vaping) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2024; and the Progressive Coal Royalties Protection (Keep Them in the Bank) Bill 2024.
Following, at Government House, Her Excellency hosted a reception in support of the National Council of Women of Queensland, and the Governor addressed guests.
In the evening, at Queensland Performing Arts Centre, South Brisbane, Her Excellency and Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD attended the Opening Night of Trent Dalton’s ‘Love Stories’.
