The Governor’s Official Program is comprised of a wide range of constitutional and legal duties and ceremonial and community engagements. Each year, the Governor hosts thousands of visitors to Government House to take part in investiture and award ceremonies, Open Days, receptions and meetings, and travels widely throughout Queensland to support the activities of Patron groups. On Wednesday, in the morning, at Government House, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC and Mrs Kaye de Jersey hosted an Investiture Ceremony for recipients of Australian honours and awards announced in the 2019 Queen’s Birthday Honours List, and the Governor addressed guests.
In the afternoon, at Government House, His Excellency and Mrs de Jersey received the High Commissioner for Papua New Guinea, His Excellency Mr John Ma’o Kali CMG OBE and Mrs Vavinenama Vere Karli, accompanied by the Acting Consul-General for Papua New Guinea, Mr Jimmy Ovia.
Following, at Government House, His Excellency received the Clerk of the Parliament, Mr Neil Laurie, for the presentation of six Bills for Assent.
