The Governor’s Official Program is comprised of a wide range of constitutional and legal duties and ceremonial and community engagements. Each year, the Governor hosts thousands of visitors to Government House to take part in investiture and award ceremonies, Open Days, receptions and meetings, and travels widely throughout Queensland to support the activities of Patron groups. On Thursday, in the morning, at 1 William Street, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC presided at a meeting of the Executive Council.
In the afternoon, at Government House, His Excellency and Mrs Kaye de Jersey hosted a reception in honour of the Official Birthday of Her Majesty The Queen, and the Governor addressed guests, launched the Government House Collection – Items of Historical and Heritage Interest book and presented to Minister for State Development, Tourism and Innovation, the Honourable Kate Jones MP, representing the Premier of Queensland, a copy of the Letters Patent of 6 June 1859 establishing the separate Colony of Queensland and the original instructions issued to Sir George Bowen on the same date by Queen Victoria.
