On Tuesday, in the morning, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM and Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD departed Normanton for Doomadgee Aboriginal Shire Council.
At Doomadgee Aboriginal Shire Council Office, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo received a briefing from the Mayor, Councillor Fredrick O’Keefe and Council representatives.
Following, at Yellagundimarra Hospital Doomadgee and Community Health Centre, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo received a briefing on operations, toured the facility and met with staff.
Following, at Doomadgee State School, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo visited and toured the school, met with staff and students and read a book to students.
In the afternoon, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo departed Doomadgee for Official Travel to Mornington Shire Council.
At Mornington Shire Council Office, Mornington Island, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo received a briefing from the Mayor, Councillor Richard Sewter and Council representatives.
Following, at Mornington Island State School, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo visited and toured the school, met with staff and students and read a book to students.
Following, at Mornington Island Hospital, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo received a briefing on operations, toured the Hospital and Aboriginal Community Health Centre and met with staff.
Following, at Mirnidyan Gununa, Mornington Island Art Centre, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo received a briefing on operations, toured the Centre and met with artists.
Following, at PCYC Mornington Island, Her Excellency hosted a Private Investiture Ceremony for Councillor Bobby Thompson OAM, and the Governor addressed guests.
Following, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo departed Mornington Island for Official Travel to Carpentaria Shire Council.
