On Wednesday, in the morning, the Honourable Justice Peter Flanagan assumed duty as Deputy Governor of Queensland.
Following, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM and Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD departed Normanton for Official Travel to Kowanyama Aboriginal Shire Council.
At Kowanyama Aboriginal Shire Council Chambers, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo received a briefing from the Mayor, Councillor Territa Dick and Council representatives.
Following, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo visited and toured Kowanyama State School where they met with staff and students and read a book to students.
Following, at Kowanyama Primary Health Care Centre, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo received a briefing on operations, toured the facility and met with staff and patients. They then visited the Kowanyama Cultural Centre, where they toured the Cultural Centre and Indigenous Knowledge Centre and met with artists in residence.
At Government House, members of U3A Tamborine Mountain visited for a guided tour of the House and gardens.
In the afternoon, at Kowanyama Aboriginal Shire Council Chambers, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo attended a working lunch with the Mayor, Councillor Territa Dick and Councillors, before departing Kowanyama for Official Travel to Pormpuraaw Aboriginal Shire Council.
At Pormpuraaw Aboriginal Shire Council Chambers, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo received a briefing from the Mayor, Councillor Ralph Kendall Jnr and Council representatives.
Following, at Pormpuraaw State School, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo toured the school and met with staff and students and read a book to students.
Following, at Pormpuraaw Primary Health Care Centre, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo received a briefing on operations, toured the facility and met with staff and patients.
Following, at Pormpuraaw Art and Cultural Centre, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo toured the facility and met with staff.
Also in the afternoon, at Government House, members of Labrador Senior Citizens visited for a guided tour of the House and gardens.
In the evening, at the Boomerang Building, Pormpuraaw, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo attended a community dinner with members of the community.
