On Friday, in the morning, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM and Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD departed Government House for Official Travel to Cairns Regional Council.

In the afternoon, at the Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns City, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM hosted an Investiture Ceremony for the following recipients of the Australian Honours and Awards announced in the 2025 Wattle Day Australian Bravery Decorations and 2026 Australia Day and King’s Birthday Honours: Dr James Peter Stanton AM PSM; Lieutenant Colonel Ryan James Mitchell CSC; Mr Roger Craig Whyte APM; The late Mr Dennis Michael Howe OAM, received by Mr James Howe; Mr William Charles Lowis OAM; Mrs Lesley Roxanne Pryor OAM; Major Andrew Scott Crook OAM; Warrant Officer Class One Michael William Beeton OAM; Warrant Officer Class One Gregg Pierre Orlicki OAM; Petty Officer Kerryn Sue Seaborn OAM; Warrant Officer Class One Daniel John Leatham CSM; Chief Petty Officer Adam Clements Moxham CSM; Chief Petty Officer Tara-Ann Wilson CSM; Mr Wayne Anthony Maconachie; Mr Robert Frank Petersen; Mr Barry Richard Uhr and Mr Teokotai Umaki.

In the evening, at Cairns Performing Arts Centre, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo attended the Australian Festival of Chamber Music's Opening Night Concert - 'Cairns Crescendo', and the Governor addressed guests.
