In the morning, at St John’s Cathedral, Mrs Kaye de Jersey attended the annual Mother’s Union Lady Day Eucharist.
In the afternoon, at Parliament House, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC and Mrs de Jersey attended the opening of the 55th Parliament of Queensland, where the Governor received from the Australian Federation Guard the Royal Salute including a 19-gun salute, reviewed the Royal Guard of Honour, the Australian Army Band Brisbane and the Queensland Police Service Mounted Unit, before delivering the Governor’s Speech for the opening of the first session of the 55th Parliament, which can be read here.
In the evening, at Inns of Court, the Governor attended a reception, hosted by the Bar Association of Queensland, for recently elected life members of the Bar.
Following, the Governor and Mrs de Jersey hosted a dinner for Mr Robert Hannaford and Mrs Alison Hannaford. Guests included: the Honourable Justice Hugh Fraser and Mrs Margie Fraser, the Honourable Justice Glenn Martin AM and Mrs Robyn Martin, the Honourable Ian Callinan AC QC and Mrs Wendy Callinan, the Honourable George Fryberg QC and Mrs Jeraldene Fryberg, Mr Chris Saines CNZM and Mrs Amanda Saines and Ms Cecily Pearson and Mr Trevor Farrell OAM.
