On Monday, in the morning, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM and Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD visited Moranbah State School, meeting with students and reading Government House children’s publication ‘A Place for All Queenslanders’ to Year 1 students.

Following, at the Isaac Events Centre, Moranbah, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo, together with Isaac Regional Council Mayor, Councillor Kelly Vea Vea, hosted a morning tea attended by members of the local community, Council and emergency services, and the Governor addressed guests.

Following, at the Moranbah Town Square, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo visited the Moranbah Miners Memorial, and laid a wreath in memory of those who have lost their lives in the region’s coal mines.

Following, at the Country Universities Centre (CUC) Isaac, Moranbah, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo received a tour of the centre and met with a local student, before enjoying a working lunch with Isaac Regional Council Mayor, Councillor Kelly Vea Vea and CUC staff.

In the afternoon, at Moranbah, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo visited Moranbah Hospital, where they received a tour of the hospital and met with frontline healthcare staff.

Following, at Dysart State School, Dysart, Her Excellency, accompanied by Professor Nimmo and Isaac Regional Councillor Vern Russell, presented certificates to students on Parade and participated in a Q&A panel led by the School Captains.

Following, at Dysart, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo visited Dysart Hospital, where they received a tour of the hospital and met with frontline healthcare staff.
