Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Foundation – The Extraordinary Power of Giving Celebration Dinner
Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Foundation Chair, Ms Susan Buckley, Members of the Board, and CEO, Ms Simone Garske; major donors and supporters; distinguished guests; ladies and gentlemen, good evening.
I too begin by acknowledging the Traditional Owners of the lands around Brisbane, the Turrbal and Jagera people, and pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging, and to all First Nations people here tonight.
I am honoured to be with you this evening to highlight and commend the work of the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Foundation in its ongoing contribution to fundraising for better health outcomes for all.
The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital holds a place dear to the heart of many Queenslanders, but of course, its reputation for life-saving research and discovery, is known far beyond our State. The RBWH is a global name, and this is due not only to those who work within and for the hospital, but also to those who so generously donate to allow for such groundbreaking work to happen.
With my own background in health, I am always inspired by the possibilities created through medical research, but I am also cognisant of the reality of the extent of funding required to make such exciting outcomes possible.
This is why donors to the RBWH, and other affiliated research Institutes and Centres at the Herston Health Precinct, through the Foundation, must be applauded, and tonight we do just that.
Thank you for your incredible financial support that allows Queensland’s largest hospital and its partner agencies to explore, to study, to investigate, to experiment, to analyse, and to implement.
The power of your giving creates so many opportunities for both those dispensing health care now and into the future, and for those receiving it. Every donor to the RBWH Foundation leaves a valuable footprint on the path to further health successes.
This year, once again, I would like to thank the Foundation’s Chair and Board, Hospital Executives, staff, and medical researchers. Your exemplary dedication to your work benefits us all.
Please continue to keep the dream of a better health future alive, and in that, I wish you great success. Thank you.
